It’s going to be another tough year for educators and students in the city of Richmond, with teachers and programs likely to be in the middle of an effort to close a budget gap of about $11.5 million.  Link

A year after grappling with the mayor over a $23.8 million gap in school spending – a process that quickly turned bitter and preceded massive turnover on the School Board – the school system is again forecasting a huge deficit. This year’s gap is projected to be at least $15 million.  Link

Richmond Public Schools spent nearly $600,000 on hotels and travel agent fees in a 13-month period that ended in July 2011, according to documents posted on a Michigan-based website Monday.
