Overview

In January 2010 the City of Richmond Administration recommended the elimination of the Department of General Services and the incorporation of the various service areas and accompanying budget dollars within it into the Department of Information Technology,the Department of Public Utilities, the Department of Public Works, as well as the Non-Departmental budget. The intent was to enhance the quality of services being provided to the citizens of Richmond.

Mission Statement
Through strategic partnerships with City agencies we will provide technology and customer services to aid Richmond’s leadership in fostering a positive environment and enhancing the quality of life for people to live, work, and play. Agency Overview – The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is a service organization that maintains and operates complex information systems in support of the City’s public service activities. DIT offers a variety of technology support services to assist city employees in using the resources and services that the department is responsible for providing.
